A mental gene?

Some biologists assert that non-carbon-based life forms existed prior to carbon-based. They are called “memes”.

A meme is any idea, concept, expression, image, skill, phrase, etc., that’s born out of no-thing. It can easily be transmitted from one human brain to another. Some variants spread more readily than others.

Those human activities that have no obvious connection with reproduction or survival take on a whole new dimension when viewed in light of the concept of the meme (or mental gene).

The product of such a meme (a product arising from an artistic, literary or philosophical activity) may give its carrier an evolutionary advantage, if the society in which that individual lives places a certain value on this kind of product.
