A negative somatic marker projected onto a possible future outcome, functions as an <em><span style=\"color: #ffd700;\">alarm bell<\/span><\/em>. A more positive marker will function as an <em><span style=\"color: #ffd700;\">incentive<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">This elaborate system of neural circuits is programmed to function as &#8216;pain avoider&#8217; and &#8216;pleasure seeker&#8217;.
