This sacred altar is like a city in the sky, a temple in the clouds, resplendent in gold and radiating grandeur:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/userfiles\/image\/2024-pics\/Maitreya-complex-in-clouds.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"333\" height=\"157\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/iDiscoverChina\/photos\/discover-tranquility-at-the-maitreya-altar-a-striking-new-landmark-at-the-gatewa\/960332996124512\/\"><span style=\"color: #ffd700;\">Maitreya Sacred Altar<\/span><\/a> and geodesic dome were designed by the Tsinghua University Architectural R&amp;D Institute. Its design concept blends traditional culture with modern technology, exceptional artistry, and functionality. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">The structure shines with golden brilliance on the outside and revealing a unique interior. The combination of classical and modern styles offers a journey through time+space, evoking the profound and vast essence of Buddhist culture. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">This entire project covers an abandoned vast quarry. It is designed in the shape of a flower bud, with a difference in height of 35 mtrs. It spans over 300 acres, with a total floor space of 51K sqm, cost US$ 140 Mio. Opened in 10\/2024:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/userfiles\/image\/2024-pics\/maitreya-dome.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"222\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Maitreya\"><span style=\"color: #ffd700;\">Maitreya<\/span><\/a> Altar is the core of this project, which is divided into 4 main parts: <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">the Great Mercy Hall in the front, <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">the Longhua Dharma Hall, <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">the vertical structure of Sumeru Mountain, and <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">the Adytum of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tushita\"><span style=\"color: #ffd700;\">Tushita Heaven<\/span><\/a> on top. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Three halls representing other <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dvipa\"><span style=\"color: #ffd700;\">Dvipas<\/span><\/a> are designed around the Altar, namely Purvavideha in the east, Aparagodaniya in the west of the Altar, and Uttarakuru in the north, while the Altar represents the Jambudvipa itself.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">It will be the main venue of the Maitreya Cultural Festival, religious lectures, conferences, exhibitions, and cultural exchange activities with large audiences.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">A vertical structural element is inserted under the center of the shelled glass roof for vertical ventilation, equipment, and structural reasons. It connects the deep underground with the roof space.
