This has been a holy Buddhist site since the Tang dynasty (618 \u2013 907), but the original Usnisa temple was destroyed during the Taiping Rebellion in the 1850s.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Later, when a fragment of the Buddha\u2019s skull was allegedly found here, China went all out and spent about US$ 600 Mio to construct <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Niushoushan\"><span style=\"color: #ffd700;\">a new temple complex<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">The Chan State Scenery is an enormous hall, almost the size of an airplane hangar, where the magic really starts:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/userfiles\/image\/2025-pics\/Niusgoushan_Cultural_Park,_Nanjing_China.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"222\" height=\"296\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Once your eyes have adjusted to the dimmed lights and you have told yourself that this is not a dream, you will be awed by the gigantic interior. The immense size together with the colors and textures are straight from an acid trip.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">The focal point of the Chan State Scenery is the large reclining <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Buddha\"><span style=\"color: #ffd700;\">Sakyamuni<\/span><\/a> statue that slowly rotates 360 degrees. Admire the latticed ceiling, alcoves filled with buddhas, bronze trees, and LED lights.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">When you have either reached Nirvana or sensory overload, follow the curved porch hugging the giant durian.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/userfiles\/image\/2025-pics\/Niusgoushan_Great-Usnisa-Hall.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"277\" height=\"208\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">The Great Usnisa Hall, or 1.000-Buddhas Hall, the highlight of the Nanjing Niushoushan Cultural Park, is where buddhists <a href=\"?p=1115\"><span style=\"color: #ffd700;\">circumambulate<\/span><\/a> the relic of the Buddha&#8217;s skull bones:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/userfiles\/image\/2025-pics\/circumnavigation-Buddha-remains.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"277\" height=\"113\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">As you wrap your head around all the trippy colors, different kinds of marbles, shiny orbs, crystal inlays and Buddhas serenely smiling down at you, notice that all of these are 6 FLOORS UNDERGROUND<\/span><\/span>!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dULmnnG0pU8?si=0EYnoLi8-hjtI3qq\" width=\"280\" height=\"155\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">The Zheng He Cultural Park is the burial site of <a href=\"?p=1120\"><span style=\"color: #ffd700;\">Zheng He<\/span><\/a>. The tomb, restored in 1985, retains traditional Hui and Muslim burial customs. It features a horseshoe-shaped stone mausoleum made of bluestone, with a tomb cover carved with yunjin and lotus patterns, along with Arabic inscriptions.
