His mouth was open and it looked like one eye was gouged out,\u201d said Dr. Naji Touma, a professor at Queen\u2019s University Medical School and urologist at Kingston General Hospital in Canada. <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"6px;\">The <a href=\"?p=925\"><span style=\"color: #ffd700;\">ultrasound<\/span><\/a> was taken in 2009, after a man complained of discomfort. A 6 cm. growth, a benign tumor, was the result of an infection. The testicle was removed.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/userfiles\/image\/2013%20pics\/gargoyle-face-agony.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"230\" height=\"156\" \/><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/userfiles\/image\/2013%20pics\/garg.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"230\" height=\"172\" \/><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">The ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans used animal-shaped waterspouts, named <\/span><\/span><span style=\"6px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gargoyle\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"color: #ffd700;\">gargoyles<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">, designed to convey rainwater from a roof and away from a building, so as to avoid erosion of the mortar between the wall&#8217;s stones. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">During the 12th century, when gargoyle spouts appeared on Cathedral-roofs in Europe, the Catholic Church was growing stronger and converting many, mostly illiterate, pagans. Therefore images were very important to convey ideas.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"6px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"> In this medieval world many of these creatures had mystical powers, such as absorbing the demonic energies surrounding the church, but also emotional human qualities were ascribed to them.
