The R-brain, the oldest and simplest, is responsible for our survival. Its neural circuitry is mostly innate and stable.

When confronted, it knows only<\/span><\/a> 2 options:
\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Action, such as Fight or Flight<\/span>, or
    \n<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  2. NO-Action, such as Freeze or Surrender<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The basic ruling emotions and actions such as: love<\/span><\/a>, hate, fear, lust, consume, seek a mate, get married, breed, riot, obey, eat, kill, worship, buy, drink, compete, get more, guilt, sin, seek differences, and judge appear to emanate from this first stage of the human brain complex. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    When we are out of control with rage, it is the primitive emotions within our reptilian brain that override the rational components of the neo-cortex. Some people call this \u201cthey reacted with their heart\u201d, but it is not.
    \n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    The “language” of the R-brain is visual imagery. Reptiles communicate by visual symbolic representations, each with their specific meaning. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    The courtship of many reptiles, birds<\/span><\/a>, and mammals consists of the male showing his ability to provide food, and establish & protect a nest before he will be considered a suitable mate. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    In the reptilian brain, sex, aggression and territoriality are treated the same way. Territory is acquired by force and defended. Here, “might is right”<\/span>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
