Forgiveness

“The weak can never forgive.
Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”

“But, can the strong allow the others
to forget that he/she forgave them?”
(Mahatma Gandhi)

Forgiveness is a decision to release feelings of resentment & revenge. The offensive act may always remain a part of your life, but forgiveness can lessen its grip on you.

Forgiveness doesn’t minimize or justify the wrong. You can forgive someone without excusing the act. Forgiveness brings a kind of peace that helps you go on with life. By embracing forgiveness, you embrace peace and joy.

It is important to recognize that your current distress is coming from the hurt feelings, thoughts and physical upset you are suffering NOW, not what offended you 5 minutes or 5 years ago. Research has shown that people who are unjustly hurt by others can heal emotionally and, in some cases, physically by forgiving their offender.

You can never live in the present and create a new and exciting future if you always stay stuck in the past. Forgiveness can even lead to feelings of understanding, empathy and compassion for the one who hurt you.

After Jesus the Christ forgave St. Peter for denying thrice his relationship with the man Jesus, Peter realized that Forgiveness has to be the cornerstone upon which he had to build the Christian Church.
