The overriding characteristics of R-brain behaviors are:
primitive,
• ritualistic,
• automatic,
• instinctive,
• strong resistance to change,

It controls our needs for safety, survival, and self-preservation, such as:
preening, mating,
• social dominance,
• awe for authority,
• body maintenance,
• status maintenance,
• all forms of addiction,
• any form of prejudice,
• all manners of deception,
• ceremonial re-enactments,
• establish and defend home territory,
• reactions within the social pecking order,
• obsessiveness, compulsiveness, hoarding,
• personal day-to-day rituals or superstitious acts,
• obedience to legal, religious, and cultural precedent,
• slavish conformance to existing ways of doing things,
• responding to partial representations (coloration of law).
