Limbic’s Interface?
The limbic brain is primarily concerned with self-preservation and species-preservation and controls most of the ANS.
It’s involved with activities related to food, sex, emotional bonding, and the expression and mediation of emotions and feelings, such as motivation, play, and sense of self.
It is the interface between emotional states and memories of physical stimuli, hormones, “Action or No-Action” responses, sexual arousal, circadian rhythms, etc.
The limbic system gets “duped” when you get addicted to hard drugs. Since the addiction activities take place in the lower brain section, you cannot rationalize their effects.
The nucleus accumbens plays a role in sexual arousal and the “High” derived from certain recreational drugs. Whatever stimulates it more, will have primacy over food or sex. Its main components are:
