Homotoxicology

Homotoxicology is the science of toxins and their removal from the human body. It is based on the fact that the level of illness a person experiences is directly related to how well that person’s body is able to eliminate toxins.

Homotoxicology detoxifies the body at a cellular level. Normally, we excrete toxins naturally via sweat, urine, feces, and breath. When part of these primary elimination pathways get blocked it is necessary to go a step further and detoxify the body at the cellular level.

Homeopathic detox is more gently because it works with the body and allows the body to self-regulate. This gentle process does not strip the cells of nutrients, as the methods used help the body eliminate the mildest toxins first.

Homotoxicology was founded by German physician, Dr Hans-Heinrich Reckeweg. He theorizes that disease in the body is caused by “homotoxins,” which is any substance that creates a direct or indirect toxic burden on the human organism. He made remedies to help rid the body of these toxins.

Unexcreted toxins linger. The body then tries to expel them through means such as mucus, diarrhea, fever, and vomit. These trapped toxins can also lead to more chronic diseases.

The practice of homotoxicology aims to stimulate the body to heal on its own, and then return to its original healthy state.

This is primarily accomplished through the use of botanical remedies and complex homeopathic formulas in waveforms, which increase metabolic and circulatory functions that support and drain those organ systems.

How Does It Work?

Homotoxicology consists of 3 pillars:

  1. detoxification and drainage,
  2. immune modulation, and
  3. cellular activation/organ strengthening.

Dr. Reckeweg created the “6 Phase Table of Homotoxicology”, which explains how the body reacts when toxins are present:

  1. Excretion Phase: The body tries to rid itself of toxins using fluids from vomiting, sweating, diarrhea, sneezing, runny nose.
  2. Inflammation Phase: The body generates a fever to aid with healing.
  3. Deposition Phase: The body begins storing toxins in its fatty tissues as a way of detoxification. The brain, being our fattiest organ, bears the brunt of many of them.
  4. Impregnation Phase: Toxins, stored at the cellular level, are surrounded as a means of the body trying to defend itself against them.
  5. Degeneration Phase: Damage to these cells causes the body to become diseased.
  6. Dedifferentiation Phase: Genetic control mechanisms are damaged, causing the body to break down.

Who Might Benefit?

Homotoxicology will benefit anybody with sensitivities, particularly children with SPD (Sensory Processing Disorder), ADHD, or ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), as they are sensitive to detoxification protocols and experience healing reactions when toxins are removed. Once the body is detoxified, it will respond more positively to other types of treatments.
